The On3 bi-level Denver and Rio Grande Southern Railroad, Columbia /Division, represents the Rio Grande Southern Railroad from Rico to Ridgway, Colorado during the late 1930's to early 1940's time period. The layout is a point to point design with a provision for a continuous loop in between. The San Juan Lumber Company operates on the Enterprise/Beaver Creek branch and represents the New Mexico Lumber Company. The upper level /Rico yard, which is 36 feet long, has all hand laid track as well as most of the scenery. Structures include a water tank, station, coal tipple, engine house, out buildings and a small town. Other small scenes can also be seen. The sceniced Enterprise/Beaver Creek Branch is complete with mines, stations and MOW structures. Equipment includes brass and die cast Rio Grande Southern and D&RGW engines, PSC Freight geese and a PMC Passenger goose. All equipment has DCC and sound. Rolling stock includes equipment from Durango Press, Grandt Line, San Juan Car Company and Tomalco kits. Work on the lower level Ridgway yard is underway and includes track, structures and some scenery. Hopefully it will be operational by convention time. A high level track to the August Clark mine has an operation D&RGW #341 with cars. It has a reversing unit that allows it to run back and forth between the mine and the Lizard Head area. The 1:20.3 scale Horseshoe Creek and Western Garden Railroad started a few years ago with the purchase of a G scale Bachmann battery operated, Remote Control Big Hauler Train Set for Christmas. A 4' x 12' oval was built outside the next spring. Since that time the layout has been growing and currently has 125' of mainline. It started out with a Sandy River and Rangeley Lakes theme, but has become more free-lanced in recent years. The HC&W subsidiary, Horseshoe Creek Lumber Co., just finished a spur to trees on Windsor Mesa. Sound equipped Shays and a Climax haul logs from the Mesa to the lumber mill. Motive power includes LGB and Bachmann, a Roundhouse SR&RL live steamer is also included on the roster. A variety of buildings, plants and a waterfall can also be seen on this layout.
