This is a simple around the wall eye level layout with approximately 120 feet of mainline track, most of which is straight level running through the South Park and the Gunnison Valley, with a short 2% grade up the flank of Red Mountain to reach Silverton.

Colorado & Southern, Denver & Rio Grande Western, and Rio Grande Southern are the featured railroads. The New Mexico Lumber Company Shay # 7 is used on log trains, with the Hallack & Howard Lumber Company Climax # 6 as back up power. The largest towns are Como and Gunnison, and the small communities are Jefferson and Silverton.

Current structures in Como include the Depot, Dispatcher’s Office, Pacific Hotel, Grade School, High School, Catholic Church and Rectory, and Superintendent’s home. Como carpenters are busy building saloons (Allen’s, Turf Exchange, Montag) and a restaurant (Kenosha) in the business district for the thirsty and hungry train men. A fire house with bell tower has been built to help fight town fires. The C & S Railroad plans to start construction of the stone roundhouse in a few months.

Silverton is represented by the Silverton Northern engine house. Construction crews will start soon on the Jefferson Depot, stock pen, and related structures.

There is now 50 linear feet of completed scenery, including Gunnison town and yards, the Red Mountain Mine No. 2 area, Red Mountain, and part of South Park. The layout features numerous museum quality scratch built structures by Matt Dillow and Bill Miller, track work by Fred Folk, and scenery by Matt Dillow.
